1. Jiu Jitsu is for Everyone
A common misconception is that you have to be “in shape” to do jiu jitsu. There is no specific body type for this sport- people of ALL sizes train. A lot of women’s concerns also include worrying about being smaller than the guys training. Size means nothing in Jiu Jitsu! It is a technique based sport where weight and size can be used to one’s advantage, or against a person.
2. Health and Well-being
BJJ is a great workout. It’s the perfect mix of cardio and conditioning and it doesn’t feel like a workout! With a mix of warm ups, drills, and rolling you’ll leave class feeling amazing. The self defense skills you practice in class can also come in handy in the real world. You never know when you are going to need them.
3. The Sisterhood
There’s no sugar coating: Jiu Jitsu for so many years was a male dominated sport and in so many gyms still is, but that is rapidly changing with time and with the influence of so many amazing females who train. The women of Jiu Jitsu have created a large and diverse community of women who empower one another to train harder and to be more confident. There is no bond like the one you will experience with your jiu jitsu sisters.
